Lake Easton

The Sunday after our Yakima River Float trip, we stopped for a quick breakfast at the Yellow Church Cafe. While we ate our delicious breakfast, Mark decided we hadn't had enough sun yet and it would be in our best interest to make a stop on the way home for more sunshine and floating. This idea sounded perfect to us, so we starting thinking of places to stop on our way back home. We settled on Lake Easton, just off I-90 and about forty minutes down the road from Ellensburg.

Ready for more fun in the sun!
The Lake Easton State Park is is pretty big and includes everything you need for a great weekend, including camping, a boat launch, hiking and biking trails, a park area for families, and a nice sandy (well for a Washington lake) beach. You will need a Discover Pass to enjoy the park, but a day pass is a reasonable $10. (Joel and I had our Discover Pass with us, but discovered it had expired - rats!) After finding a nice shaddy parking spot, we changed into our bathing suits, lathered on the sun screen, and blew up our floats.

We spent a lovely Sunday afternoon floating away on the lake. Drinking the rest of our beers, catching up with good friends, and making plans for trips like this. It was such a great way to end our little weekend trip. We decided to call it day in the late afternoon. With little enthusiasm, we packed up our gear and headed back to the city, back to our homes, to prepare for another week in the office.

  1. Lakes. Floating. Beer. All of my favorite things. Obviously it is no wonder we are friends.
